Abner is cool. Abner likes to read books. Be like Abner!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CBffD41k7/

At 98, Abner Gaston Jr., an African American Texas native who learned to read in segregated schools, completed the San Diego Public Library's summer reading challenge for the second year running, enjoying favorites like "Green Eggs and Ham" alongside a room full of elementary schoolers. He earned his certificate and already promised he'll be back to do it again at 99, proof that the joy of learning has no age limit.

📚NEW & EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT THE LIBRARY! 📚

We’ve been busy behind the scenes, and we’re excited to share a few updates with you!

OUR NEW WEBSITE IS HERE!

Be sure to check it out for library information, updates, resources, and more!

NEW PATRON CARDS!
We’re also introducing new patron cards!
👉 Don’t worry—your old card will still work! There is no need to replace it unless you would like a new one.

If you’d like a new card, please email us at [email protected] with:

Your name
Any information that needs to be updated (phone number, address, or email)
A photo of yourself if you would like a photo added to your card

Once your new card is ready, you’ll receive a text message or email letting you know it’s ready for pickup!

We are currently transferring our materials and patron information to a new circulation system. This is an exciting upgrade for our library, but it may take a little time to get everything moved over and working smoothly.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these improvements! ❤️
