❤️ Saturday was a beautiful example of what community service can look like.
🇺🇸 55 volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spent their Saturday morning serving Waxahachie as part of the National 9/11 Day of Service.
🤝 Keep Waxahachie Beautiful partnered with the City of Waxahachie Code Compliance team to identify several properties where residents could use some extra help.
💪 The volunteers came ready to work! Kids, adults, and missionaries cleared brush and overgrowth, hauled debris, trimmed vegetation, and tackled projects that would have been difficult for residents to complete on their own. They even built a new set of stairs at one property where the previous stairs had rotted away. 🪚🔨
🚛 By the end of the cleanup, volunteers had cleared and hauled away 15 truckloads of material!
🌿 This was a new kind of cleanup for KWB, and we loved seeing so many volunteers willing to serve their neighbors in such a practical way.
🏡 Keeping Waxahachie beautiful can mean picking up litter along a creek or roadway, but it can also mean helping a neighbor care for a property that has become difficult to manage. Both make our community stronger. 💚
🙏 We are incredibly grateful to the 55 volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who chose to spend the National 9/11 Day of Service helping right here in Waxahachie, and to Code Compliance for partnering with KWB to help make this pilot project possible.
👥 Would your church, business, school, civic organization, or community group like to host a cleanup like this?
📩 Contact Keep Waxahachie Beautiful today! Groups interested in this type of service project will need to provide their own tools and equipment, including items such as gloves, pruning and yard tools, trucks, and trailers for hauling materials. KWB can help coordinate an opportunity to serve. 🌱
