The Waycross Police Department is proud to have many military veterans serving alongside us, as well as officers who continue to serve our nation in the military reserves. We also have members of our department actively deployed, answering the call to serve our country.

Today, we are especially proud to recognize one of our officers, Ladedric Castellanos, who has requested leave from the Waycross Police Department to attend U.S. Army basic training.

While this is the first time one of our officers has taken leave to start military service, it is certainly not the first time a member of our department has answered the call to serve something greater than themselves.

We wish Officer Castellanos the very best as he begins this journey. We wish him success, safety, and good luck as he serves our nation.

We also look forward to welcoming him home and seeing him continue serving the citizens of Waycross.

Sometimes the job takes an unexpected turn. ❤️

During an accident investigation, one of our officers was asked to lend a helping hand and ended up holding the sweetest little passenger on the scene.

Sergeant Kirkland, Officer Blackburn, and K-9 Officer Whiddon were honored to participate in Wacona Elementary School’s Community Helpers Day! We enjoyed spending time with the students and sharing a little about the important work our officers do every day.

Thank you, Wacona Elementary, for inviting us to be part of such a great event! 💙
