Storytime Tuesdays at 10 AM.

Last week the StoryTime Children watched the last butterfly emerge from its chrysalis at the Wayland Free Library. Jess, a boy butterfly named after one of our participants(notice the spots on the back wings), is now on his way to Mexico.
To celebrate this small miracle we are going to read butterfly books at StoryTime tomorrow morning.
At little Handmakers we will make and decorate butterfly finger puppets with natural flower confetti.

As part of The Great Give Back, the Southern Tier Library System’s 2026 STARCat Cares: Paws for a Cause campaign, Generations of Giving, is bringing libraries and their communities together to support senior care facilities throughout our five-county region.

On Oct 17th at 11 AM we will be hosting a sewing program to craft fidget quilts for local senior care facilities. These fidget quilts will help calm anxiety, provide comfort, and help preserve fine motor skills for seniors in need.

The Great Give Back is a community service initiative created by the Suffolk County Public Library Directors Association and the Suffolk Cooperative Library System, in conjunction with the Nassau Library System.

Please call 585.728.5380 to register for this program.

Participants enjoyed junk journaling so much that it was requested to be a monthly event, so if you missed us last time you have a chance to catch up with us this Thursday October 8th at 6 PM.

Returning participants should bring their journals they started last month while new participant's will receive a blank to begin their personal creative journey in junk journaling.

To give us an idea for how many to expect/prepare for we ask that you please call to hold your spot, at (585) 728-5380.

Wayland Free Library StoryTime, Tuesdays at 10am.
Last week we found out that several of our little StoryTime friends have dogs. We have dog books! Lots and lots of them. We actually have more than 400 children books about dogs in our collection. We have pulled a few for the display shelf( you can bring them home if you want) and 2-3 books we will read aloud together.

Little Handmakers starts after StoryTime at 10:30am.
Craft project this week: A little dog.

Update: We added some lovely dog pictures you shared with us in the comments to this post. ❤️
