It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a longtime member of our squad, Chris McIntyre.

Chris was more than a member of our squad — he was part of our family. For many years, he gave his time, dedication, and service to others, always answering the call when his community needed him.

His presence, friendship, and commitment to the squad will be deeply missed. The memories he made and the lives he touched will remain with us always.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Chris’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest easy, Chris. Thank you for your service, your friendship, and the many years you gave to our squad. You will never be forgotten.

🚨 SOMEONE IN OUR COMMUNITY WILL NEED US. 🚨

When that call comes in, someone has to answer.

That someone could be YOU. ❤️

The Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad is looking for people who want to make a difference.

You just have to be willing to learn, willing to help, and willing to be there for your neighbors when they need you most.

We’ll help you get the training you need. Along the way, you’ll become part of a team, make lifelong friendships, learn skills that can truly save a life, and become an important part of our community.

🚑 Give your time.
❤️ Help your neighbors.
🤝 Become part of our family.

The community needs volunteers. The squad needs you.

Meet Chris……

I've always been involved in community service through my church. As my interest in healthcare grew throughout high school, I realized that medicine offered many ways to show meaningful care for people. I reflected on a car accident I was involved in around the same time, and experiencing the “patient POV” helped me understand the impact that EMTs can have, and it inspired me to join the squad so I could do the same for my community.

The most rewarding part of the squad has been the growth I’ve experienced (and continue to experience) as both a provider and a person. EMS has taught me how to communicate more effectively, and responding to calls alongside brilliant people while making a difference in someone’s life has been truly meaningful.

Outside of the squad, I like to travel, go to the gym (tryna hit 275 on bench), and play guitar.

Meet Florence…..
I was first Inspired to join the squad when I saw the signs that members were needed and was curious. Then I thought it would be a great way to serve my community and also connect with people - being new to the town, moved here in December 2019 with a fully remote job, I hardly have opportunities to know my town and its people so this seemed like a great way to win both ways: serving and getting to know my town.

The most rewarding part is taking care of patients, especially those who are scared. I enjoy being that reassuring presence in the patients moment of need/ fear.

Outside of the squad I enjoy sewing, knitting and crotchet. I love to read non- fiction - mainly on human behavior and anthropology.

Our volunteers go above and beyond, providing coverage for our town, assisting surrounding communities, and supporting large-scale events. Most recently, they helped at MetLife Stadium during the last FIFA game, bringing our MAB to support the NJ EMS Task Force.

Meet David…

I had been an EMT for several years before moving to Wayne, and when I relocated, I wanted to continue serving the community. Joining the first aid squad gave me the opportunity to keep helping people and give back to the town.

The most rewarding part of being on the squad is the teamwork and camaraderie that comes from working alongside our police and fire departments. Every call is a coordinated effort between different agencies, and I enjoy being part of a team that comes together to support our community when it needs us most.

Outside of the squad, I enjoy exploring my interest in communications technology by tinkering with radios and learning how different systems work. I also enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors, and traveling whenever I have the opportunity.
