Another amazing day of fall weather, another opportunity for our crew to get some great driver training in. Today’s topic: 2nd due engine operations with the driver trainees. It was also “getting to know” our Oasis valve and how it works. Getting reps in on this often overlooked vital position of the water supply chain.

We would like to wish our youngest career member, Mr. Travis Martenas a HAPPY birthday!! This young man continues to push to not only make himself better, but our department better as a whole!! He also serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of L5211.

Today’s crew has been busy today logging the training hours. Whether refresher or initial, driving cone work is important to an emergency operator’s skill set to be the best operator they can when driving in emergency mode. They also took advantage of the weather to draft since we are restricted from town hydrant use during the week of flushing.

A HUGE thank you to Otterbein Church for allowing us to use their large parking lot to setup our cone stations for our driving practice!!

Today’s crew was asked to provide fire extinguisher training for a large group of Waynesboro Area School District employees conducted at the middle school. If you or your group need initial fire extinguisher training or an annual refresher, call the firehouse to get it scheduled. It’s just another key component to being prepared for when an emergency occurs.

Today’s crew took advantage of the great fall weather to go out and perform multiple drafting scenarios to assist a driver trainee in completing his FAO book.

It’s fire prevention month and that means numerous groups come by and are welcomed by our crew on-duty. This morning we had two small group of little ones to come learn some fire prevention, get to see the fire truck, see how we transform into our gear and leave with some cool goodies. We hope that educating them young will pay off if they are ever in the position to be the “little hero” by activating 911 properly.

Wishing a very happy birthday to B-Shifter Robert Atkinson!!

It is our goal (if I can remember them lol) to post all of our full timers birthdays throughout the year!! So today we celebrate Robert!!
