🚧 Road Work Update – W Main St | Oct. 6–9
A little more fiber work is coming to W Main Street this week.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6, contractor crews plan to work at various locations along W Main St between Dupont Circle and New Hope Road. Work is expected to continue through Friday, Oct. 9, weather and field conditions permitting.
📡 What’s this work for?
Crews are wrapping up some of the remaining fiber placement and splicing associated with the ongoing fiber network project along the Route 250 corridor.
Here’s what to expect:
📍 W Main St – Dupont Circle to New Hope Rd
• Moving work zones as crews make their way along the corridor
• Temporary lane restrictions near active work areas
• Traffic control crews on site to help keep everyone moving safely
• Brief delays may be possible at times
🚗 If W Main St is part of your usual route this week, give yourself a few extra minutes and keep an eye out for crews and changing traffic patterns.

🛣️ CRACK SEALING BEGINS MONDAY, OCTOBER 5 AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH OCTOBER 14, 2026
You may notice another type of street maintenance taking place around Waynesboro beginning Monday, October 5, 2026: crack sealing.
Unlike milling and paving, crack sealing is preventive maintenance. Crews clean cracks in the pavement and fill them with a flexible sealant. Sealing those openings helps keep water from getting beneath the pavement, where it can contribute to further deterioration.

🚧 MONDAY MILLING & PAVING UPDATE – OCTOBER 5
Milling and paving work is scheduled to continue Monday, October 5, weather and operations permitting.
Scheduled Milling:
• S Delphine Ave SB — Windsor Rd to Western Ave
• S Delphine Ave SB — Western Ave to Sidney Dr
Scheduled Paving:
• S Forest Ave — 11th St to Elkin Ave
• Ohio St — Port Republic Rd to N Wayne Ave
• King Ave — Hopeman Pkwy to King Ave
If you live, work, or park along these streets, please move vehicles before crews arrive and follow temporary No Parking signs and traffic-control directions. Keeping the work area clear helps crews move safely and efficiently.
A quick reminder: milling removes the worn road surface and prepares it for new asphalt. Milling and paving may happen on different days, so a milled street isn’t necessarily a finished street.

🚧 Fall Milling & Paving Continues
If you’ve noticed paving crews back out on City streets, you’re seeing the next round of Waynesboro’s 2026 paving program underway.
Some of the work on the schedule below has already begun, with additional milling and paving planned through October 13. We’re sharing the full schedule so you can see where crews are working—and know when they may be headed your way.
A quick paving refresher: Milling removes the worn road surface and prepares it for new asphalt. Paving may follow on a different day, so a milled street isn’t necessarily a finished street.
If your street is coming up, please move vehicles before crews arrive and follow temporary No Parking signs and traffic-control directions. A little help keeping the work area clear helps crews keep moving.
Weather, equipment and field conditions can shift the schedule, so we’ll continue to share updates as the work progresses.

🔋 Got old rechargeable or lithium batteries sitting around? This Saturday is your chance to dispose of them safely.

Waynesboro's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is this Saturday, September 12.
Rechargeable and lithium-ion batteries are in many of the things we use every day—cell phones, laptops, power tools, cameras, toys and other rechargeable devices.
Please don't put these batteries in your household trash. When damaged or crushed during collection, they can create a serious fire risk for our employees, equipment and community.
Bring them Saturday:
📅 September 12, 2026
🕣 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
📍 Waynesboro City Shop (Operations), 900 Essex Avenue
And while you're at it, check the garage, basement or shed for other household hazardous waste you've been meaning to get rid of.
The attached flyer has the full list of accepted and non-accepted items. No trailers will be accepted this year.
🔋 Before you toss a battery, know where it goes.
