The Smoky Mountain Housing Partnership was formed in 2019 as the Affordable Housing Division of Mountain Projects. SMHP is vigorously addressing the desperate need for affordable workforce housing in Haywood County, Jackson County and Western North Carolina. Plans to build a micro-community and workforce housing on Jonathan Creek in Haywood County are well underway. Additionally, SMHP currently offers the “Self-Help” program where applicants take on an active role in the construction process of their home under the careful guidance of a certified supervisor. SMHP understands the rising costs of homeownership in Western North Carolina. It is our promise to continue being a proactive force in the pursuit to provide each resident with a sanitary, affordable, and safe place to call home.

A big milestone for Bethel Village! 🏠

Yesterday, another modular home was placed in the growing Bethel Village community in Jonathan Creek through the Smoky Mountain Housing Partnership’s Self-Help Housing Program, a division of Mountain Projects, Inc.

Thanks to Edwards Modular Construction, the home is now in place and finish work can begin as future homeowner Jill Stevens helps complete her new home.

NOTE: SMHP is not currently accepting applications.

We will share updates with the community as application opportunities resume.

The Smoky Mountain Housing Partnership’s Self-Help Housing Program, a Division of Mountain Projects, celebrated another milestone on April 20th, with the placement of the first of three additional homes at its already successful Bethel Village project in Jonathan Creek.

A crew from Edwards Modular Edwards Modular Construction of Rutherfordton lifted the structure into place, and now finish work begins, with the homes’ owners helping complete that work.
