It's important to remember that the playground will be closed. Going into the construction area is dangerous for citizens and construction workers alike. Please give them time and space to make the exciting improvements.

LAKE LOUISE PLAYGROUND - TEMPORARY CLOSURE
Beginning August 17th , the playground and swing set area at the Lake Louise Park will be temporarily closed for maintenance and repairs. We anticipate reopening in the next three weeks, depending on weather conditions. Park visitors will notice construction fencing and signage going up this week and are encouraged to avoid the playground area until the project is completed. The walking path will remain open but please remember that heavy equipment operators may not be able to see or hear you while they are working so it's very important to stay out of the marked construction site for your safety.

Please contact Public Works if you have any questions or concerns at 828-645-0606.

A few important reminders from the police department concerning July 4th:
*NO vehicle traffic will be allowed inside the road closure once the streets close at noon.
*Parking is prohibited in certain areas. Be mindful about where you choose to park. Parking is not permitted within a traffic lane or upon the traveled portion of a roadway, on the sidewalk, or blocking driveways. Research the ordinances in advance on Municode.com under section 28-95.
*To reiterate: NO pets, NO sparklers or other fireworks, NO alcohol.
*DO bring your lawn chairs, water, and good vibes—and let’s make it a night to remember!
Thank you for helping us keep the event safe and fun for everyone!

🚧Beginning June 24th🚧

The Department of Transportation is providing the Town of Weaverville with notice regarding the upcoming traffic shift on I-26 just east of Exit 19. This shift will transition westbound traffic onto the new alignment to facilitate construction of Stage III of the bridge. NCDOT recognizes that the Town may have already experienced impacts from the preparation work undertaken this week, and NCDOT appreciates the publics' patience as they move through this critical phase of the project.

The contractor will begin nightly closures this evening, 6/24 at 7:00 p.m., continuing through Friday night 6/26, when the traffic shift is currently scheduled to occur. We are closely monitoring weather conditions; therefore, the shift may be postponed to later in the weekend. Should this occur, daily travel may be affected, as we are committed to completing the traffic shift once it has begun.

DETOURS THRU WEAVEVILLE - DISCOURAGED!

We discourage detours through Main Street, Weaverville, as remaining on the highway will generally result in faster travel times. Please drive carefully, cautiously, and please slow down adjacent to construction workers as it is the law! Thank you 🙂

🔥 How to survive (and crush) today’s Music on Main fest:

The music is going to be hot, but the weather is going to be hotter. To make sure you have the absolute best time today, here is your official game plan:

Hydrate & Shade: Sunscreen is your best friend today. Drink water like it’s your job and steal some shade when you can. ☀️

Ditch the Keys: The social district is open, which means the drinks might be flowing. Do NOT drink and drive. Lock in your Uber, Lyft, or designated driver now. 🚗❌

The Travel Hack: Main Street is completely shut down between Merrimon and Brown until midnight. Give yourself extra time, follow the detours, and do not park in the street. (Getting your vehicle out of the tow yard will certainly lower your mood!). 🚧

WBA has got the tunes covered, you just bring the good energy. See you soon! 🎶✨

UPDATE 04/14/2026: DOG HAS BEEN FOUND. Thank you for your help.

Help us find this missing pup. She's a 4-month-old grey/brown chow mix who weighs 25 lbs. She ran away from Hamburg Mountain in Weaverville around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10. She is skiddish, but may come to food. She likes other dogs as well. She's wearing a bright green/yellow collar but does not have tags.

Our Police Department administrative offices will be closed in observance of Good Friday. However, please remember that our officers are always available, and police services will continue without interruption.

Construction delays can test anyone’s patience, but impatience behind the wheel is where real danger begins. Arriving a few minutes later is always better than not arriving at all. Take a breath, give yourself extra time, and drive like someone’s life depends on it—because it does.

Duke Energy contractor work zone at the intersection of Main Street and Weaver Boulevard

Work will take place on Monday, March 2 & Wednesday, March 4 between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Avoid the area or drive cautiously. Thank you, your patience is appreciated.
