Cal Fire has announced that the prescribed burn has been cancelled for today with tomorrow still to be determined.

I want to clarify that Lake Shastina Fire has no say in the decisions made on this prescribed burn. Please contact Cal Fire for related questions and concerns. Our phone rang non stop yesterday and unfortunately we cannot answer the majority of questions.

LSFD is currently assisting Cal Fire with a control burn located off County Hwy A12. This prescribed burn is approximately 4000 acres and will take course over the next three days.

Lake Shastina’s new Engine 3110 was first at scene today to the Frontier Fire. Solid work put in by E-3110 crew!

LSFD provided two Wildland Type 3 engines and personnel to aid with a training burn for the FF1/FF2 COS Academy on March 16th. Not only is this training crucial to all involved, it also cleaned up ground debris that can potentially carry fire into the city of W**d.

LSFD firefighters received drip torch, back burn, and fire behavior training this morning. For being mid March we sure did see some concerning fire behavior!

This morning at 4:59 AM Lake Shastina Fire was dispatched to a structure fire on Coyote Ct. Engine 3110 arrived first at scene to find a multi-story residential structure with heavy smoke showing. Engine 3110 crew began an offensive fire attack and quickly suppressed the flames throughout the structure. Even with the quick fire attack the home is heavily damaged and the residents are currently displaced and have lost most of their belongings.

LSFD would like to thank W**d City Fire and Cal Fire Siskiyou for assisting our crew. Their hardwork and the mutual aid system is always appreciated.

Lake Shastina Fire crews were also the last to leave the scene which did not happen until 8:15 PM! Over 15 hours of keeping an eye on the structure to assure that it is 100% out.

The picture on the right? Well, those homeowners should order a new address sign installed by one of our dedicated personnel. The cost is $50 and the process is easy.
