US freight is on the move: US rail traffic rose 8.5% for the week ending Oct. 17, with intermodal shipments up 12.6%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Truck capacity is also tightening earlier than usual ahead of the holidays, per the ACT Research October outlook.

Globally, Drewry World Container Index rose 2% to $4,585 per 40-ft container for Oct. 22, with Shanghai–Los Angeles at $8,007.
