Sherman Township Library Read ~ Learn ~ Grow

Sherman Township Library is located in the village of Weidman, Michigan, just north of Weidman Elementary School.

Sherman Township Library opened as a township operated business in April 2011. Thanks in great part to the residents of Sherman Township, the library has expanded its hours and offers a growing collection of books and media for use by its patrons. It is a Class II library, administered by a six-member board of trustees. Patrons may access our catalog from their home computers by accessing the library website. Our personal collection can be searched by clicking "Catalog Search and Reserves" on the right-hand side of the page. This catalog allows patrons to search for available titles, renew materials, or place items on reserve. To initially set-up your log-in for the catalog enter your library card barcode number and "userpass" as the password. After the initial log-in with your account you will be able to create a personalized password for future use. We also currently offer an e-book collection for use by our patrons. Again, from our website, click on the "overdrive" logo on the bottom left of the homepage. From the new page that appears choose "Sign In" along the top navigation bar. Choose Sherman Township Library from the drop-down menu. To complete signing in, enter your library card barcode number. PIN: 0000.

The Book Buzz selection this month is Women Talking by Miriam Toews

Available at the circulation desk as well as on the Libby App.

One evening, eight Mennonite women climb into a hay loft to conduct a secret meeting. For the past two years, each of these women, and more than a hundred other girls in their colony, has been repeatedly violated in the night by demons coming to punish them for their sins. Now that the women have learned they were in fact drugged and attacked by a group of men from their own community, they are determined to protect themselves and their daughters from future harm.

September Kid's Picture Book Pick: Leave Me Alone! by Dr. Becky Kennedy

Nothing makes Pia happier than playing secret agents with her brother, Charlie. Until . . . an unexpected stumble . . . Did she just ruin the game?! Her body freezes. Her heart pounds. All the feelings in her body start bubbling up, and she explodes.

Pia is a Deeply Feeling Kid (DFK). DFKs experience emotions with intensity. Their big reactions to seemingly small events can feel sudden and overwhelming, and attempts to help them often backfire. These are the kids who seem tough and prickly on the outside . . . yet underneath, they’re scared and overwhelmed, struggling to manage feelings that seem too big for their bodies.

Parenting a DFK can feel like walking on eggshells―never sure what might set things off, always bracing for the next explosion. Dr. Becky has created an approach that helps caregivers stay sturdy, build connection, and become the safe base their kid needs―even in the hardest moments.

September Staff Pick by Maggie: That's Not My Name by Megan Lally.

It was a mistake to trust him.

Shivering and bruised, a teen wakes up on the side of a dirt road with no memory of how she got there―or who she is. A passing officer takes her to the police station, and not long after, a frantic man arrives. He's been searching for her for hours. He has her school ID, her birth certificate, and even family photos.

He is her father. Her name is Mary. Or so he says.

When Lola slammed the car door and stormed off into the night, Drew thought they just needed some time to cool off. Except Lola disappeared, and the sheriff, his friends, and the whole town are convinced Drew murdered his girlfriend. Forget proving his innocence, he needs to find her before it's too late. The longer Lola is missing, the fewer leads there are to follow…and the more danger they both are in.
