City of Weldon Spring, Missouri The City of Weldon Spring is an extended suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, located in the southeast part of St. Charles County. In 1849, John McMillan, Jr. Charles.

Incorporated in 1984, the city blends suburban charm with access to scenic parks, great schools, and a strong sense of community. is credited with laying out the town, and calling it Weldon Spring in honor of John Weldon's orginal find. The original plat shows 14 lots, some irregular in shape, on both sides of Marthasville Road (now known as Highway 94). In the early 1800s a cog mill was built, powered by water from the spring. A blacksmith shop, gun shop and gristmill were soon added. Fredrick Bunding built a general store and later added a shoemaker’s shop. He served as the village postmaster for 50 years. Missouri became a state in 1821 and the first state capitol was located in St. In 1824, a German named Gottfied Duden settled for almost a year in St. His favorable impressions were recorded in a book published in Germany. Last year, we checked the seeds from a locally grown persimmon tree on Wolfrum Road to predict the winter ahead. According to folklore, a spoon means a snowy winter with lots of shoveling, a fork predicts a mild winter with little snow, and a knife signals bitter cold temperatures and icy winds.

Last November, our seed revealed a spoon, predicting plenty of snow. Just 19 days later, a significant snowfall hit the St. Louis region, with Lambert Airport recording 6.4 inches, one of the largest November snowfalls on record. Weldon Spring also experienced notable snow events on January 24 and 25!

This year, the seeds are leaning heavily toward the knife, suggesting cold temperatures and icy winds may be ahead.

Will the persimmon seeds get it right again?
