Long before cell phones kept us connected, equipment like the Universal Wonderphone helped power companies communicate along their transmission lines.
Manufactured in Seattle by Paul Hackett, the Wonderphone used a special microphone capable of producing strong output without an amplifier. Hackett was experimenting with wireless telephone technology as early as 1910, and his microphones were also used by pioneer radio stations. A pretty amazing piece of early communication technology, built right here in Washington state!
