Rockingham Board of Elections to Conduct Voting Machine Tests

The Rockingham County Board of Elections on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, will conduct Logic and Accuracy (L&A) tests on voting systems that will be used in the upcoming general election. L&A testing ensures each voting system will correctly count and tabulate each ballot cast.

The General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Before every election, county boards complete L&A testing to ensure proper coding of ballots and tabulation of votes for every contest.

Ballots of each style are coded for a mock election and run through the tabulator. The tests check the voting system’s ability to read each ballot style and the accuracy of the tabulator when counting votes. A bipartisan team oversees the preparation of the machines and ballots and conducts the tests.

After testing, election staff will reset the equipment to ensure no L&A test information remains on the system heading into the elections.

If you wish to witness the process, L&A tests are open to the public. If you plan to witness the L & A tests, please call the office at 336-342-8107 to reserve a spot no later than noon on Thursday, September 24, 2026, there is limited space for this. The public may view the equipment preparation and testing, as long as they do not interfere with the process.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Rockingham County Board of Elections proudly recognized the dedicated service of Dayne Blair, who faithfully served as a precinct official for more than 26 years. In honor of her outstanding commitment to the voters of Rockingham County, the Board presented a plaque to her son, Dan Blair, commemorating her decades of exemplary public service.

Dayne Blair’s steadfast professionalism, reliability, and kindness made a lasting impact on our election operations and on the countless voters she assisted over the years. Her contribution reflects the true spirit of public service, and the Board is deeply grateful for the legacy she leaves behind.
