In the mood for a mystery? We have one for you!

Read and discuss Louise Penny's A Trick of the Light with us for our next Lies & Alibis 🔍 In the quaint village of Three Pines, Inspector Gamache and his team investigate the death of an art critic, and their main suspects come from the art world and the realm of recovering alcoholics.

Place a hold on CountyCat or call the information desk at 414-302-8500 ☎️

We'll meet Wednesday, November 4, at 6:30PM to chat all about it!

Calling all American Girl fans! 🗣️🗣️

This week's is the newly released and much anticipated Samantha: The Next Chapter, a novel following Samantha Parkington all grown up 🎀

Were you a fan of the dolls and their stories? We have some special stuff happening until the end of October to celebrate this next chapter of American Girl books!

Near our Teen Space (but not only for teens!) we have a drawing you can enter to win a copy of Samantha: The Next Chapter OR Daisy Davenport Saves The Day, the novel for 2027's Girl of the Year. We also have a poll, some fun facts, and a just-for-fun Can You Name These American Girls? activity! Come in and relive your childhood with us! 😊

Finally, fun fact—Daisy Davenport is from Wisconsin 🧀

It's been just over a week since the wonderful Christina Clancy joined us to close out West Allis Reads 2026, and we've finally recovered enough from the amazing night to say wow!

It was fascinating to hear her insights into Shoulder Season and its characters and to ask her all our questions 😊

Thank you to everyone who came to the Q&A or any of our related programs, to everyone who read the book, who talked about it with friends or family or library staff or the mayor or neighbors, to those who made our community a little bit closer! Thank you to Christina Clancy for writing such an engaging book and for taking the time to come talk to us about it! 📘❤️

Here's to West Allis and to West Allis Reads—we're already looking forward to next year!

We heard a pitter-patter in the Children's Department and noticed a couple of mummies scampering around! We think we might have caught them on camera, but we just can't be sure. If you spot them in these pictures, let us know! 📸

If you want to come see them in person (or make your own), you're in luck—these cuties are the craft for Friday's Mini Masterpieces!

Kiddos ages 1-3 and your caregivers, come to the Children's Story Room at 10AM or 10:45AM and explore the magic of creation through this process art program 🧟

Shear Joy last month was a wooly good time! 🐑

We had sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, needle felting, quilling, journaling, coloring, and more, and we can't wait to see what everyone brings next time 🧶

Speaking of next time, it's next week! Come hang out between 6:30-8PM on Monday, October 19, in the Constitution Room. Bring a project, work on it, and make some friends! 😊
