DAILY CONDITIONS 10/14

Today brings a much more October-like feel back to Michigan.

The U.P. stays coolest, with highs mainly in the upper 40s to mid-50s, while northern Lower Michigan generally lands in the mid-to-upper 50s. Farther south, temperatures rebound into the 60s, with much of southern Lower Michigan reaching the mid to upper 60s. Clouds will be more common across northern Michigan, while southern areas should see a mix of clouds and breaks of sun. A few showers are still possible early Wednesday across parts of southern Lower Michigan, mainly before things trend drier during the day.

Definitely a cooler, quieter Wednesday after the warmth earlier this week.

The schedule for this weekend. It will be the perfect ending to fall camping.

Over the next three days, the Upper Peninsula will be at its peak or past peak for fall colors this year. Drought and colder nights helped push things along quite well this season. If you plan on going to the Upper Peninsula to see the colors, the next couple days will be the last opportunity for great photography until 2027.

For those waiting on northern lower Michigan, we should start seeing peak colors by next weekend in and around Ga***rd down to West Branch. Warmer nights to start the week will slow the progress, but we pivot back to fall conditions by next weekend. Additional low chances for rainfall will continue to maintain drought. Drought is important in a negative way, as it causes leaves to often fall earlier, and as duller shades of yellow and brown.
