🎉🚔🐕A HUGE congratulations to Officer Richard Flaherty and K9 Fedor on their retirement! 🐕🚔🎉

After nearly 30 years of service to the Town of West Bridgewater, Ofc. Flaherty began his career as the Animal Control Officer in 1997. Throughout his years of service, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to this community and played an instrumental role in establishing and building the West Bridgewater Police Department’s K9 Program.

We would have nothing to build on today if it weren’t for Ofc. Flaherty and his late K9 partner, Tazer. Their hard work and dedication laid the foundation for the program we have today, leaving a lasting legacy within our department.

During his final shift, Monday, October 26, Chief Timothy Nixon presented Ofc. Flaherty with a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his years of dedicated service and contributions to the department and the Town of West Bridgewater.

Please join us in congratulating Ofc. Flaherty and K9 Fedor on this incredible milestone! Thank you, Richie, for everything you have done for our community and the West Bridgewater Police Department. Your dedication, contributions, and legacy will not be forgotten.

We will miss you, Richie!

West Bridgewater Police Department Shares Tips for a Safe Halloween: As residents prepare for an evening of spooky fun, the Department wishes to provide the community with safety tips.

Parents should check that costumes are safe. Clothing and shoes should fit properly to ensure children do not trip and fabric does not snag on objects. Make sure that costumes are made of flame-resistant materials. Kids should carry flashlights or glowsticks and wear reflective strips on costumes to be visible while trick-or-treating.

Be sure to set expectations before children leave the house for the evening. Know which neighborhoods your trick-or-treaters will be visiting and ensure the group stays together. Reiterate to children that they should never enter a stranger’s house or vehicle.

Adults should drive slowly and cautiously, especially through residential neighborhoods. If attending a party, have a designated driver and never get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol.
