A heartfelt thank you to Fiorenza’s Food for Friends for hosting this year’s Annual West Chester Chili Cook-Off!

The Arc of Chester County was proud to be part of this wonderful community tradition, bringing people together for a day of great food, fun, and community spirit!

It was also a wonderful opportunity for The Arc’s new CEO, Amy Kelly, to connect with the community! Amy was joined by her husband, Matt, and their son, Ryan, along with Bianca Prigg, AWC Program Manager, in celebrating this special event.

Our preschoolers took a trip to Colonial Gardens it was a wonderful extension of the preschool’s fall theme, which will continue throughout the month of October. This week, in particular, the children are learning all about pumpkins, so Colonial Gardens was the perfect destination.
In addition to seeing a wide variety of pumpkins, the children had an opportunity to explore the assorted activities throughout the farm, enjoy a hayride, and bring home their very own mini pumpkin.
The children and staff had a great time, and it was a lovely way to kick off our field trips for the year and bring this week’s classroom theme to life.

October is one of our favorite months of the year! Join us in supporting the Down syndrome community during this special month. In the 1980s, October was proclaimed “Down Syndrome Awareness Month,” or “DSAM,” and this designation continues today. It’s a month to raise awareness and celebrate the many abilities of our loved ones with Down syndrome. Thank you Governor Josh Shapiro for recognizing Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual recognition of the positive impact of people with disabilities in the American workforce. This yearly event began in 1945. In 1988, Congress designated the commemoration as NDEAM, which then evolved to acknowledge the importance of increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We will be highlighting this throughtout the month of October! Thank you Anytime Fitness for working with us as one of our valuble partners.
