Take a bike ride down Rosedale Avenue. Look at the stunning new mural on the back of FHG Library. The design began as a pencil sketch in the notebooks of WCU Art + Design students Liam Cromwell ‘26, Kevin Reece ‘26, and Rebecca Stratton ’26. Discover what made their design a perfect representation of one of the libraries’ most popular programs.

Happy American Archives Month! To celebrate, we're hosting another Special Collections Open House. Our theme this year is "From the Vault: America in Archives."

Our doors will be open October 20th, from 3PM to 6PM where we will have Americana objects, books, maps, photographs, and more on display. Stop by any time during the event to get a closer look at these special materials that are usually only locked behind a vault door!

Help us congratulate Bobby Cosgrove on earning his Master of Arts in history from WCU! Bobby graduated as part of the class of 2026. He worked at FHG Light for the last two years. Anyone who has checked out a book from a library display in the last two years has seen his work. Bobby’s displays are known for their intersectionality and include many genres.

One of his most well know displays is the America 250 display he curated this spring. You can check out the books on this display on the second floor of FHG Library in the Quinlisk Commons.

Bobby’s many talents energized our library community. Read his full story (Link in the comments).

If you have ever wanted to learn more about your family's history, start a family tree, or just find proof that your great-great-great-uncle was the last emperor of a remote island in the arctic, join Our Special Collections Librarian Ron McColl for Genealogy for Beginners.

Ron will hold sessions next Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th from 1:00-2:00pm in Special Collections (FHG Library Room 613). The link to the event is in the comments.

He will share some of his own experiences from his pursuit of his ancestors, cover tips for staying organized, discuss some common traps to avoid, and show you how to create and start using your own free Ancestry.com account using University Libraries' subscription.
