A NEW EXHIBIT OPENS OCTOBER 22!

Celebrating Chester County's unique role in the Revolutionary War, our new exhibition will highlight the local events and the complex choices the community faced.

The narrative will explore the experiences of those who embraced radical change and those who resisted it, examining the forces that shaped how neighbors navigated the war at their doorsteps and the challenges of its aftermath.

Learn about the complex factors on the path to independence. Discover true stories of the county’s earliest residents. Enjoy historic artifacts from our late 1700s collection.

Plan your visit and join us for "Whose Revolution? Choice & Consequence."

The Whose Revolution? Choice and Consequence exhibition has been made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Our new America 250 exhibit will open to the public in just a few weeks. Here's a little glimpse of two custom gowns fashioned during the time of the Revolutionary War. Ellen Endslow, our Curator, says the dresses will take turns being on display for visitors to view. Go to mycchc.org to plan an upcoming visit to the "Whose Revolution?" exhibit.

We were honored to stand among such powerful women at the West Chester, PA NAACP Freedom Fund dinner this past weekend. Congratulations to fellow honorees Penny L. Washington, Mary Baylis, and Hester Dorsey Davenport. As an organization dedicated to the preservation of local history, we are in awe of each of them as history makers within our West Chester community.

Talk about a one-man show!

One last toy spotlight before our afternoon with the Chester County History Center at Memorial Park. Meet the Limberjack.

This fella is a loose-jointed wooden dancer on a stick. You hold him over the end of a paddle, tap the board, and his feet start to clack and clatter. Keep a rhythm, and he'll dance all day.

Dancing dolls like him have entertained crowds for centuries. Street performers in 18th-century London set them jigging for passersby.

Every Limberjack needs a performer. Grab the stick and paddle, and you become a puppeteer, percussionist, and choreographer all at once. How wonderful it is to give life to a little wooden character. You are the magic!

Wanna come play with us? Come take the stage at Memorial Park on Saturday, October 3, from 12 to 3 PM.
