Licking Valley RECC is proud to be in the company of the nation’s nearly 30,000 cooperatives — not-for-profit, member-owned organizations that keep essential services and the decisions affecting them in our communities. October is National Cooperative Month!

Today, Licking Valley RECC had the pleasure of hosting a Legislative 101 with the legislators who represent our service area.

CEO John May provided an overview of our cooperative, our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to our members, and some of the challenges we face in serving rural Eastern Kentucky.

Our guests also had the opportunity to see a demonstration of the work our linemen perform when repairing a downed power line, offering a firsthand look at the skills, training, and safety precautions required to keep the lights on for our members.

We sincerely appreciate Senator Greg Elkins, Representative John Blanton, Representative Richard White, and Representative Tim Truett for taking time out of their busy schedules to visit with us. Thank you to Eric Landis (also pictured) from East Kentucky Power for your legislative updates as well and for working with all the schedules to make this happen. Opportunities like this help strengthen the relationship between our cooperative and the leaders representing the communities we serve.

We are 1 hour 45 mins out from the Magoffin County Sublett Substation planned outage. Please be patient and stay out of that area so the work can be performed as safely and quickly as possible. Areas affected by the outage are listed in a previous post from yesterday.

Licking Valley RECC along with our friends at Mountain Rural Telephone Cooperative welcome everyone to the Morgan County Sorghum Festival!
