West Mifflin Area School District is considering a plan to restructure how its school buildings are used as part of its long-term planning for students, programs, facilities, and district resources.

At Thursday evening's work session, the board heard a presentation on major financial elements impacting the budget and how restructuring would fit into this larger picture. While a critical consideration, a major decision like this cannot be made based solely on finances.

District leadership has been conducting a study looking at academics, finances, and operational logistics.

Now, it's time to get details of this proposed plan shared so that the district and the school board can hear what you value about your children’s educational experience, where improvements may be needed, and what questions or concerns you have about the proposed restructuring.

A release is posted on the district website and the link will be shared in the comments.

No final decision has been made.

The District will conduct a survey and host a town hall meeting to provide additional information about the proposed restructuring and give families and community members an opportunity to ask questions and share additional feedback.

Town Hall Details UPDATED:
Tuesday, November 3, 2026
5:30–6:30PM
Location: Middle School Auditorium

Additional information about the proposal, survey, and next steps will be shared as planning continues.

Again, no final decision has been made for the 2027-2028 school year at this time.
