Michigan, here we come! 🫶

We're bringing socialgovs together in person with the launch of GSMA Summits!

Our very first stop is Rochester, Michigan, on November 19, and we'd love for you to be part of it!
Imagine a day spent swapping ideas, learning from fellow government social media professionals and connecting with people who get what you do every day.

That's what GSMA Summits are all about: creating more opportunities to learn, connect and grow together in a more personal setting.

And you don't have to be from Michigan to attend! Members from every region are welcome, and if you're not a GSMA member yet, there's an option for you, too!

We can't wait to meet you in Michigan!

Tip of the week 💡 Did you know that Instagram carousel posts tend to perform better and reach more people?

Instagram recently announced new tools and updates to the post type:

1. You can now create a carousel in the Edits app! You may need to unlock this feature first under "Labs" in your settings. From there, go to the Projects tab and tap on the plus sign icon to start a new project and select "Carousel."

2. Revisit a previous carousel and reorder it. On mobile, tap "Edit" then press and drag.

3. Test the multiple caption feature. This allows you to customize your captions for each visual in your carousel to add more context.

Tip of the week 💡 If you're worried about link restrictions on Meta, here are three things you can do right now.

1. If you use a third-party management platform, ask how they're handling link limits.
2. Put more of the actual information on Facebook. Use a multi-image or carousel-style post, infographic, reel, or longer caption to avoid sending people away from the social network.
3. If Meta starts restricting your links, be clear to the public that Facebook has limited the number of links your page can post.

Join us in thanking our outgoing GSMA Council members!❤️

As we begin a new Council term, we're recognizing Kaitlin Keeler, Angie Ramirez and Laurel McJannet for the time, experience and perspective they've shared with the Government Social Media Association.

During their terms, they represented government social media professionals across their regions and helped move forward new opportunities for members to connect, participate and stay involved in GSMA.

From strengthening the GSMA member experience at GSMCON to helping develop our new Ambassador Committee, we're grateful for everything they've contributed along the way.

Help us thank Kaitlin, Angie and Laurel for their service!

We’re introducing a new way for experienced GSMA leaders to stay involved!

The new GSMA Ambassador Committee will give former Council members opportunities to continue contributing their experience after their Council service — from mentoring current volunteer leaders and sharing institutional perspective to supporting special projects and initiatives.

The committee grew out of conversations with our 2025–2026 Council about creating more continuity across GSMA volunteer leadership and keeping experienced leaders connected to our community.

We’re reaching out to eligible former Council members soon and can’t wait to introduce our inaugural GSMA Ambassadors!
