During the 2025-2026 school year, Miss Emily received letters from Mrs. Anderson's fourth grade class at West Elementary. The students wrote letters detailing programs and other things that they enjoyed about the library, including some suggestions for improvements. Miss Emily and Mrs. Anderson's class worked together to brainstorm ideas on how they could make some of the changes happen. Mrs. Anderson's class decided to host a dollar day to raise money for flexible seating and sensory items for the library. Mrs. Anderson's class raised enough money to purchase a sensory pod, and the Friends of the West Seneca Library matched their donation so we could create two sensory kits as well!
The sensory pod can be found in the brand new sensory area located on the other side of the West Seneca Rotary Children's Library Sign within the Children's Room. Sensory kits contain a breathing board, sensory bottle, drawing tablet, sensory stones, marble maze, sunglasses and noise cancelling headphones. Kits may be borrowed at the circulation desk for use within the library.
Thank You to Mrs. Anderson's class (2025-2026) for your hard work in making this happen, and to everyone at West Elementary who participated in their dollar day including our Friends of the Library Group for their continued support!
