West Des Moines Emergency Medical Services is the municipal ambulance service and primary provider of 911 ambulance services for the City of West Des Moines, IA. WDM EMS provides advanced life support medical response and transport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. WDM EMS has over 25 full-time Paramedics and nearly 50 part-time Paramedics and EMTs. West Des Moines EMS also provides public service an

d injury prevention through regular community outreach programs in schools and other public venues, as well as provides CPR training to the community. Highly skilled and trained, WDM EMS personnel provide the highest level of emergency care to victims of illness and injury. A simple "thank you" isn't enough to show how much we appreciate this WDM EMS team.

These hardworking people give up their time with their families, working day and night, on weekends and holidays, no matter the weather. They are always ready to help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long.

Many people don’t realize how much they give up to help others when they are in need. They are there for our community members during some very tough times, showing care, kindness, and understanding.

If you see them, please remember to say thank you for all that they do! Happy National EMS Week.

West Des Moines EMS was honored to host the Metro Stroke/STEMI/ECMO Taskforce this morning to demonstrate how we provide cardiac arrest care in the pre-hospital setting. This was an informative session to help better develop the ECPR program across the metro.

This simulation included every piece of our process from a bystander finding a male collapsed at a construction site, the 911 call and bystander CPR directed by dispatchers - to the arrival of our first responders, treatment of the patient on scene and loading the patient into the ambulance.
