East High School Commencement - Class of 2026 East High School is well known for their long history of educating Des Moines and their motto: "For the Service of Humanity." This year they celebrated nearly 400 members of the Class of 2026 and new Scarlet graduates.

Proud EHS moment! School Board members Anna Maria Campos and Sara Hopkins were honored to present diplomas to the Class of 2026. In loving memory of Anna Maria’s daughter, Ema Cardenas, who passed away 2022. Anna's spirit continues to inspire our community. Congratulations, graduates! 🎓❤️

• John M. Van Liew ’02 — pioneering coach and mentor who shaped early East football
• Jason Dalbey ’89 — All-State baseball standout and multi-sport letterwinner
• DeMarco Turner Jr. ’06 — hoops All-Conference star, now East head boys’ coach
• Haley Larson ’12 — girls’ soccer all-time leading scorer, four-time First-Team All-Conference
• Alyssa Thompson ’21 — four-year varsity bowler, Second-Team All-State, team MVP
