Halloween is almost here, and a few quick safety checks before heading out can help children stay visible and avoid common hazards while trick-or-treating:

šŸŽƒ Make sure costumes and shoes fit properly, and use flashlights, glow sticks, or reflective tape to help children stay visible.
šŸŽƒ Have an adult check candy and treats before children eat them.
šŸŽƒ Drivers should slow down and watch carefully for children, especially near driveways.
šŸŽƒ Check labels on unfamiliar treats for food allergens, and keep pets secure as visitors come and go.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Hearing changes can happen gradually, which makes protecting your hearing before problems develop especially important. Keeping headphones, earbuds, TVs, and other devices at a comfortable volume and using ear protection around loud equipment or noisy events can help reduce harmful noise exposure.

If you begin noticing changes, such as trouble following conversations or persistent ringing, talk with a healthcare provider or audiologist about a hearing evaluation. National Audiology Awareness Month is a reminder to make hearing care part of your regular health routine and protect your hearing for the years ahead. šŸ‘‚

School bus safety depends on drivers knowing when to stop and giving students enough space to board and cross safely. 🚌 Flashing red lights mean stop, and drivers should always give buses enough space while students are getting on or off.

Students can help too by waiting back from the curb and following the bus driver’s instructions when crossing. These habits matter throughout the school year, not just during School Bus Safety Week.

This month’s Recipe of the Month pairs pan-seared salmon with savory soy-glazed mushrooms and veggie brown rice for a flavorful meal that works well for a busy weeknight. šŸ½ļø Remember to keep food safety in mind as you cook by separating raw salmon from ready-to-eat foods and cooking it to an internal temperature of 145°F.

The first few years behind the wheel are when lifelong driving habits begin to take shape. For teen drivers, staying off the phone and buckling up every trip can help make safe choices feel automatic over time.

Teen Driver Safety Week gives parents and caregivers a reason to revisit the expectations they have set at home and keep those conversations going as teens gain experience on the road. šŸš—
