WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT - Community Awareness Update

The Westfield Police Department is aware of recent reports and social media concerns involving a suspicious black vehicle being driven in the area of the Sandpiper Lakes neighborhood by a man reportedly wearing a mask.

We want our community to know that we take these reports seriously. Our officers have identified the individual involved and have made direct contact with him. We have also spoken with several residents who contacted our department to report their concerns and observations.

At this time, based on the information available to us, no criminal activity has been identified. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and respond to any additional reports or concerns.

We fully understand the concern these reports have caused, particularly among parents and families with children. We recognize that situations like this can create uncertainty, and we want to reassure our residents that their concerns are being heard and taken seriously.

We encourage everyone to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement. We also ask residents to avoid speculation or sharing unverified information that could create unnecessary fear within our community.

The safety and well-being of our community, especially our children, remains our highest priority.

We appreciate the residents who took the time to contact us and share their concerns. Your continued communication and partnership play an important role in keeping Westfield a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

On August 25, 2026, Westfield Police Department officers responded to a suspected juvenile drug overdose in the 18000 block of Viewpoint Lane. During the response, the juvenile also assaulted a female police officer.

WPD’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) launched an investigation into the source of the drugs, identifying Indianapolis resident Brandon Sanchez as a suspect. Following several weeks of investigation, detectives conducted a traffic stop near 106th Street and College Avenue in Carmel.

A search of Sanchez’s vehicle revealed suspected psilocybin mushrooms, L*D, ma*****na, THC cartridges, digital scales, and cellular phones. Detectives subsequently executed a search warrant at Sanchez’s Indianapolis residence with assistance from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). Detectives seized approximately 0.75 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, multiple L*D blotters, 1.8 pounds of ma*****na and THC cartridges, one r***e, four handguns, including one reported stolen from Montgomery County, and more than $20,000 in cash. Two toddlers were also found living in the residence.

Sanchez was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with three counts of Level 2 felony dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, Level 5 felony dealing in hash oil, Level 6 felony dealing in ma*****na, and four counts of Level 6 felony possession of a controlled substance.

The Westfield Police Department remains committed to disrupting illegal drug distribution through proactive investigations and partnerships with neighboring law enforcement agencies to protect our community.

A charge is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Media inquiries regarding this investigation should be directed to the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office.
