There’s no one way to read. As we celebrate the National Year of Reading 2026, we're encouraging young readers to discover that every kind of reading counts.

Not everyone wants to read a long novel, and that’s absolutely fine.
Reading can mean:
🎧 Listening to a read-along story
📖 Using an eBook
💬 Enjoying graphic novels and comics

The most important thing is finding stories that spark a love of reading.
With Libby, you can access a fantastic range of children's eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels and eMagazines, all free with your library membership.

Are you ready to celebrate the joy of reading? 📚

On Wednesday 7 October, we're inviting everyone to make time for a Wee Read – whatever, wherever and however you enjoy it.

Lose yourself in a story. Learn something new. Have a laugh. Escape for a while. Read what brings you joy.

A few pages or a whole chapter. A comic, cookbook or crime novel. Every read counts.
