The Westlake Police Department would like to thank everyone who came out to help recognize "Secure your Load" day at the Rocky River Home Depot on Saturday, June 6th!! it was a really great day. It was also the first Saturday of the month, so all the Junior DIYers were at Home Depot practicing their building skills
We would like to send a special thanks to the Manager of Home Depot Rocky River Michael F. who provided all the great raffle prizes and was a great partner throughout the planning and implementation of this great event. Westlake PD would also like to say a special "Hi Partner" to our new friend Carson!! Officer Josh of Westlake and Officer Jeff of Rocky River met Carson at the Home Depot while he was practicing his building skills. He, and all the kids did a GREAT job!!
Thanks to our peers at the Rocky River Police Department for your continued support.
During this summer season, as you load and transport your supplies, don't allow your cargo to fall out onto the roadways. Have a plan to secure whatever you are carrying. ... so tie down your loads, and stay safe!! Rocky River Police Department; The Home Depot

Mark June 6 on your calendar!
June 6th is National Highway Transportation Safety Administration "Secure Your Load Day." In an effort to help keep drivers, pedestrians, and our roads safe, as we move into the summer when most people move residences, buy large items like grills and mowers and try to find "creative ways" to get large purchases home, the Westlake and Rocky River Police Departments are teaming up with the Rocky River Home Depot.

Congrats to the 5th graders at Westlake Intermediate School who graduated from the DARE program today! DARE SRO Ptl. Cook was on hand to introduce students who wrote essays about what they had learned. Very impressive kids. Westlake Schools Superintendent Dr. Goggin also attended the morning graduation to recognize the students hard work. The strength of the WPD partnership with the Westlake City School District increases the safety, security and education of all the students in the district. Thank you to all who participated.

Great info from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources:
For this , we're talking about Ohio's cutest residents - the ones you may see curled up in your backyard around this time of year🦌
You may be asking yourself, "what do I do if I see a baby animal left alone in my yard?" (Great question by the way). Here are some things you need to know:
- Wildlife parents often leave their nest or young in a location they consider safe while they forage or hunt nearby.
- A parent is almost always nearby and will come back as needed to feed and care for them.
- The best thing for you to do is keep your distance (and be proud that your yard feels safe for wildlife!)

E-Bikes and you! Today is the last of several presentations that Ptl. Cook is facilitating in the Westlake Intermediate, Middle and High Schools. Educating the kids who will be riding the bikes this Summer will help increase safety for all. Drivers should look twice before making turns as these new bikes are increasing on the streets and sidewalks. Thanks to the Westlake City School District

Traffic/parking advisory! Westlake's annual Invitational Soccer Tournament is THIS WEEKEND! Note that there will be increased traffic in and around city fields at Holly Lane, Westlake HS, Dover Schools, Parkside Fields on Hilliard and UH St. John Medical Center. Good luck to all the local and out of area teams that will be visiting and playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
