🍏 500,000 POUNDS OF FOOD 🍎
Mountain Range’s community resource room, The Mustang Merc, passed an exciting milestone last week! Since February of 2024, the Merc has distributed half a million pounds of food provided by the Food Bank of the Rockies.
To put this scale of distribution into perspective:
* 🍱 Meals provided: Approximately 416,667 meals (based on the USDA standard of 1.2 pounds of food per meal).
* 🚛 Weight equivalent: Roughly 250 tons, which is equal to about 12 full semi-truck trailers or roughly 40 African elephants 🐘
* 👥 Impact: This food is vital to sustaining Adams 12 students and families.
The 226,796 kilograms doesn’t include the additional tens of thousands of pounds of food, household and hygiene supplies provided by the Five Star Education Foundation.
We are so thankful for Food Bank of the Rockies and Five Star Education Foundation for making this crucial work possible. Along with the endless help provided by Mountain Range’s SSN class and student volunteers who have had a part in organizing and distributing every pound of food. The Adams 12 Student to Work Alliance program also has provided paid opportunities for students to engage in this community work and make it all possible.
The Mustang Merc is run by Ellie Baker and Carmen Flores and we look forward to the next 500,000!🩵🖤
