Michael Adekunle never expected to build a career supporting adults with disabilities. What began as an unexpected opportunity became work that changed how he sees people, employment, and the strength of an inclusive community.

In this episode, Michael joins Adam Stultz to discuss his journey to becoming Target Community’s Outreach Manager in Montgomery County. They explore how Target connects participants with meaningful employment, how job coaches support employees and businesses, and why finding the right person for the right opportunity benefits everyone.

Michael also offers an honest reflection:

He once saw the disability before he saw the person. This work taught him to look deeper—and recognize the skills, perspectives, and possibilities he had previously overlooked.

It is a candid, thoughtful, and often funny conversation about meaningful work, personal growth, and helping adults with disabilities live full, productive lives.

☕🍪 A little coffee, a few cookies, and a whole lot of opportunity! 💚

There's more to running a coffee shop than pouring a great cup of coffee, and our participants got a chance to experience that firsthand!

During a hands-on Coffee Shop Skill Development Training, participants worked alongside members of Target Community's Business Advisory Council to practice cookie packaging, kitchen safety, keeping a workspace clean, and even job interviews.

Each station offered something valuable: new skills, greater confidence, and real-world experience that can help open doors to meaningful employment.

A huge thank you to our Business Advisory Council members for sharing their time, experience, and encouragement. Your involvement helps turn learning into opportunity!

Because at Target Community, we're not just helping people prepare for a job. We're helping them build confidence, independence, and a future filled with possibilities. 💚

The dance floor was full. The room was filled with laughter. Everywhere you looked, there were friends, families, participants, staff, and supporters enjoying an evening built around joy, love, community, and belonging.

And let’s make one thing perfectly clear: DJ MadMax knows how to throw one incredible party. He kept the music going, the energy high, and the dance floor packed all night.

A special thank-you to Susan Reed for the tremendous support, thoughtfulness, and care she brought to planning the event. An evening like this doesn’t simply happen. It takes people who care deeply about creating an experience where everyone feels welcomed, included, and celebrated.

We are also incredibly grateful to the generous sponsors who helped make the evening possible:

⛳ A perfect day of golf. An even better reason to come together.

The 6th Annual County Cork W**e Pub Charity Golf Tournament was more than beautiful weather and a great day at The Links at Challedon.

It was a reminder of what happens when a community shows up for one another.

Local businesses sponsored. Golfers filled the course. Volunteers gave their time. And The County Cork W**e Pub brought everyone together in support of Target Community and the adults with disabilities we serve.

The impact of that support lasts long after the final putt.

Our latest blog looks back at an incredible day, the people who made it possible, and why we're so grateful to be part of a community like Carroll County.

💚 Thank you for showing up, Carroll County.

⛳ **What. A. Day.**

The 6th Annual County Cork W**e Pub Charity Golf Tournament is officially in the books—and we could not have asked for a more perfect day.

Beautiful weather. A fantastic course at The Links at Challedon. Great people everywhere you looked. And an entire community coming together to support Target Community & Educational Services, Inc.💚

Our enormous thanks to The County Cork W**e Pub for selecting Target Community as the beneficiary of this year’s tournament and for putting together such an incredible event.

Thank you to every sponsor who stepped up to support the tournament. Thank you to every golfer who hit the course. And thank you to everyone who helped make today possible.

Your support goes far beyond a day of golf. It supports opportunities for adults with disabilities to work, learn, build relationships, experience their communities, and live full, productive lives.

Today was another reminder of just how special Carroll County really is.

When this community shows up, it SHOWS UP.

To The County Cork W**e Pub, our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and everyone who supported today’s tournament:

Thank you. We are incredibly grateful. 💚⛳

Budget cuts are measured in dollars.

**People feel them in hours.**

Fewer hours of support can mean fewer opportunities to work, build relationships, participate in the community, and develop greater independence.

Our latest blog explains how Maryland’s reductions in funding for Developmental Disabilities Administration services affect adults with disabilities, their families, and the professionals who support them.

The issue goes far beyond numbers on a state budget. Behind every funding decision is a person who depends on these services to live a full, productive life.

Read the blog:

Then hear the full conversation on the *On Target Podcast*, as Adam Stultz and Dr. Matthew Ramsey explain what these funding changes mean, how Target Community is responding, and why community involvement matters now more than ever.
