Last weekend, members of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department participated in a regional tanker shuttle drill hosted by the Norwalk Fire Department. The training brought together multiple departments, including Wilton, Rowayton, Stamford, Darien, and Ridgefield.

Training opportunities like these are especially important for Weston, which does not have a municipal fire hydrant system and relies on alternative water sources to support firefighting operations. Regional drills also help strengthen coordination between departments.

This morning, ten members of the Weston Fire Department participated in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City, alongside Officer Clark from the Weston Police Department.

The annual event honors FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller and the first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Participants retrace Siller’s final footsteps through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel to the World Trade Center site in a powerful tribute to courage, service, and sacrifice.

We were proud to take part in this meaningful event and being able to represent our community.

We will never forget.
