East Umatilla Fire & Rescue is on scene at Dorran Road and Juniper Canyon Road for a natural cover fire. There are brush trucks and tenders responding. It's estimated to be about 200 acres. Tribal Fire, Pendleton Fire, and Oregon Dept of Forestry and some water trucks from the farmers are also responding at this time. It looks to have started on the Oregon side, but traveled to the Washington side. Units from Walla Walla Fire Department have responded, this is around the Wallula area.

On September 21, at 5:12 am, East Umatilla Fire & Rescue was called to a structure fire in Preston Street in Adams. A double-wide manufactured home was fully engulfed upon arrival. Pacific Power is enroute. All residents were out of the home at the time of the fire. The dog escaped and was reunited with his family members. Thank you to Pendleton Fire & Tribal Fire for providing mutual aid.

On August 25, 2026 at 7:17pm, East Umatilla Fire & Rescue responded to a reported ammonia leak at Lakeside Foods in Weston. Crews identified a leak involving a high-pressure v***r line within the facility’s ammonia refrigeration system.

The leak was contained by on-site personnel and crews conducted a sweep of the affected building to ensure no additional personnel remained inside and to identify anyone who may have been exposed. Several employees were evaluated for possible ammonia exposure.

Medic 61 and Engine 61 responded to the incident.
