Archery Safety Reminder

With hunting season underway, the Weyauwega Police Department strongly encourages residents to use established archery ranges for bow and crossbow practice. Residential yards can leave little room for error, and a missed arrow can put neighbors, children and pets at risk.

Always know your target and what lies beyond it. Use an appropriate target and backstop, and never shoot where an arrow could enter neighboring property, sidewalks or roads.

City ordinances prohibit shooting arrows or crossbow bolts from or across a highway, or within 50 feet of the center of a road. They also prohibit reckless conduct that endangers another person with a bow and arrow. City ordinances prohibit hunting within city limits.

Meeting a distance requirement does not make a shooting location safe. If you cannot safely contain every shot, do not shoot there.

Please help keep our community safe!

🚌 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK 🚌

School bus safety is everyone's responsibility! Whether you're behind the wheel, waiting at the bus stop, or sharing the road with a school bus, a few simple reminders can help keep our students safe.

🚦 Drivers:
Stop at least 20 feet from a school bus with flashing red lights.
Never pass a stopped school bus with its red lights flashing.
Slow down and watch for children near bus stops.

🎒 Students:
Stay a safe distance from the road while waiting.
Wait until the bus stops completely before getting on or off.

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents & Community Members:
Remind children about safe bus stop habits.
Be patient and give school buses plenty of space.

Every student deserves a safe ride to and from school. Let's work together to keep our Warhawks safe!

Community Information - Today at approximately 12:06 p.m. the Weyauwega Police Department requested the Weyauwega Public School Campus to Secure and Lockout as a precaution while conducting Law Enforcement operations on the 400 block of N East Street in the city of Weyauwega.

A Secure Lockout = business as usual within the school building however nobody comes in or out of the school building.

The Secure Lockout was in effect until approximately 12:34 p.m. when the Weyauwega Police Department made contact with school officials advising they could resume normal operations.

The incident on the 400 block of N East Street was resolved without issue.

The Weyauwega Police Department and Weyauwega-Fremont School District are committed to the safety of our students and staff.

Thank you for your understanding.

With school less than a month away, we thought this was the perfect time to share one of our favorite photos from last school year.

School Resource Officer Meeuwsen and Wally the Warhawk are looking forward to seeing students, staff, and families again soon. Whether it’s in the hallways, at games, or around the community, we’re excited for another great year.

As everyone starts getting back into the school routine, remember to slow down in school zones, watch for students walking and biking, and be alert around school buses.

We’ll see everyone soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
