📣 Did you know that when you get a card at Wharton Public Library you can use it at over 60 libraries? That's because we are part of the Pillar Library Alliance, previously Main.
✨Why is Main Library Alliance changing its name?
Our previous name, Main Library Alliance, was derived from an acronym, the Morris Automated Information Network (MAIN). While we’re enormously proud of our roots in Morris County, our service area has since expanded to include libraries in seven New Jersey counties: Essex, Hunterdon, Morris Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren. We’re excited for this opportunity to reintroduce ourselves with a name that represents our commitment to our member libraries from every county.
✨Why Pillar Libraries (PILLAR)?
We chose the name Pillar Libraries to emphasize the organization’s role in supporting and uplifting public libraries. Just as multiple pillars work together to support a structure, all of our member libraries collaborate to make the alliance strong. Libraries are pillars of their communities. Pillars are built to last, and whatever changes come our way in the years to come, the organization will persist, and so will our name.
