Wheat Ridge embodies the deep roots of a city with a rich history, that dates back to the early 1800s, and a strong sense of community. Its central location provides short commutes to major interstate highways, a commuter rail line, the majestic Rocky Mountains, and the amenities of the large metropolitan city of Denver, Colorado. With easy access from I-70, you can be skiing, hiking or participating in a wide range of internationally-acclaimed mountain sports in less than an hour. Wheat Ridge is a home-rule City, operating under a Council-Manager form of government. In this form of government, the Council is the governing body of the City elected by the public, and the manager is hired by Council to carry out the policies it establishes. The Council consists of eight members, two from each Council District, and an at-large, elected Mayor. View our social media policy: https://www.ci.wheatridge.co.us/1957/Social-Media-Policy

10/05/2026

At the Sept. 28 City Council meeting, Mayor Korey Stites and City Council proclaimed October 2026 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Wheat Ridge.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. Approximately one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime, and early detection provides the best opportunity for successful treatment.

Throughout October, we honor breast cancer survivors, stand with those currently undergoing treatment and their caregivers, and remember those whose lives have been lost to the disease. We also recognize the importance of ensuring everyone has access to timely screenings and high-quality care.

The city encourages residents to increase awareness and talk with their health care providers about appropriate screenings.

Thank you to Intermountain Health for accepting this proclamation💗

Wheat Ridge 101 is in full swing!

Every other year, in collaboration with the City of Wheat Ridge Government, Localworks hosts Wheat Ridge 101—a free seven-week course designed to help residents understand how the City of Wheat Ridge works and develop strategies for community input and engagement.

So far, the cohort has learned about government operations in various City departments like the City Manager’s office. This week, our cohort met at the Clear Creek Makerspace to learn about meaningful ways to get involved with the Wheat Ridge community, including how to navigate the City’s communication channels.

Over the next several weeks, the cohort will meet with representatives from Parks & Recreation, Public Works, Planning & Zoning, the WRPD, and more as they continue their journey to become knowledgeable and engaged residents.
