While you are out and about tonight at Wheatland's Octoberfest, feel free to stop by chat with your local first responders and possibly have someone you love, like or are indifferent to taken to the Platte County First Responders Association Jail. The detention area will be located at 9th and Gilchrist Street where the individuals being detained will either have to post bail or remain for a brief allotted time. Those detained may be subject to horrible dad jokes, loud and out-of-tune singing and horrible dance moves.

Join us Thursday, September 24th, from 5-7:30 pm during Octoberfest for the return of our annual Jail or Bail fundraiser.

Welcome Back to School!

It’s that time of year again! As students, families, teachers, and staff head back to school, let’s all do our part to make sure everyone gets there safely.

🚸 Slow down in school zones — obey all posted school-zone speed limits and be extra alert for children crossing streets, buses loading and unloading, and increased pedestrian traffic.

🚌 Watch for school buses — never pass a bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing.

🚓 Need assistance or have a safety concern? Be on the lookout for School Resource Deputy Mangan (and K9 Max) and Deputy Walton throughout the school year. They’re there to help keep our schools and students safe and are always happy to assist when needed.

Welcome back, students! Have a safe, successful, and amazing school year!
