The Wheatland Historical Society has a newly released book for sale online and at the Wheatland History Museum. The Making of a Mayor, Edward Parker Duplex and the Struggle for Equality is available in our Shop at www.wheatlandhistoricalsociety.org. Written by Charles Ray Wilson, it takes the reader through the life of Edward Parker Duplex, "A Skilled Barber, an Entrepreneur, a Civil Rights Activist, and the First Black Mayor in the Western United States". This is a must-read on this very influential community member.

Mrs. Willey teaches weekly lessons helping students build confidence and “soft” job skills that sometimes get overlooked in a traditional school setting. She also works one-on-one with students, facilitating their goals outside of school by issuing work permits, navigating systems of applications to colleges and jobs, and removing any other barriers to future success the student might encounter. 💛⛏️🖤

Understanding that the brain is in charge of emotions helps young people learn to regulate themselves in stressful situations. The kinesthetic activities (clay or puzzle model) help form new pathways in their own 🧠 brain for knowledge to live.

Back To School Night, AltEd Style, was a success. Mr. Jorrin (AltEd Principal) and Mr. Tarrant (AltEd Counselor) served up delicious burgers and left no crumbs. Families had the opportunity to visit three plant 🪴 stations, with something to take home at each. EPD showcased succulents and the greenhouse. Community Day showcased flowers and seedling projects.

Wheatland Union High School District is coming together for a week focused on mental health awareness, connection, and support for every student.

Throughout the week, students will participate in SOS Signs of Su***de lessons and a lunchtime prevention activity. Families are also invited to attend our Parent Mental Health Training during Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM.

We are trying innovative ways to connect with our community, creating more of a family night rather than a traditional BTS model. Time frame is a drop-in opportunity to connect rather than a start to finish informational program. Please feel free to come when you can and stay as long as you like.
Administration, counseling, and teaching staff will be available. 🍔🌵💐🍦
