Join us in celebrating Arlene, a neighbor who found safety at the Interim Housing Center (IHC) in 2025 after fleeing domestic violence. We’re grateful to share that she has been officially approved for a Haven of Hope apartment, a DuPagePads housing program for DV survivors. 💜

Arlene showed incredible strength and determination throughout her time in interim housing. Not only is she preparing to move into a new home of her own, but she has also been hired at a local social service organization, where she’ll be giving back to the community with her inspiring spirit. Her journey from homelessness and surviving domestic violence to becoming a community advocate is nothing short of remarkable, and we are so happy for Arlene! This , we extend our sincere gratitude to St. Mark's Episcopal Church Glen Ellyn for 20 years of critical support! The annual pumpkin patch on the front lawn has become a community tradition, raising over $140,000 for DuPagePads' mission to end homelessness over the years! We invite everyone to get in the spirit of the season and purchase their pumpkins at St. Mark's, knowing that each pumpkin you buy makes a real difference for neighbors experiencing homelessness.

This we are celebrating the safety and hope that the Interim Housing Center (IHC) provides our most vulnerable community members. We are particularly grateful today that one neighbor is off the streets and focusing on her path home again!

At 60, Ellen is in a tough battle with an aggressive kind of kidney cancer. She’s also trying her hardest to keep up with her job at a local restaurant. After medical bills piled up, Ellen fell behind on rent and was asked to leave her home. For two weeks she put every dollar she had towards a motel room, but ultimately Ellen ended up spending some nights outside.

Thanks to the compassion of our amazing community, Ellen now has a warm, welcoming place to stay while she works with case management on her immediate health and housing goals. Your kindness allows us to support neighbors experiencing homelessness, many of whom are facing unimaginably difficult circumstances. Thanks for making our work possible! Thank you for being a DuPagePads supporter! We invite you to celebrate our housing workshop clients with us on ! 👏

Every week, new clients at the Interim Housing Center are encouraged to join a housing workshop, held at the Empowerment Center. One weekly workshop is the Sip and Search group, where clients meet with a DuPagePads Housing Specialist, learn about what apartments are available in the community, and pursue the best housing opportunities for their needs as an individual or family (with coffee, of course!).

In September, more than 15 clients attended this workshop and we are so happy to celebrate that one of those clients found the right apartment for their family, and are now on their way to stability once again!
