Mid-Piatt Fire Protection District Mid-Piatt Fire Protection District is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization in Piatt County, IL.

Our department provides Fire/Rescue/EMS services to a community that spreads over approximately 96 sq. miles of the county that immediately surrounds the City of Monticello. This includes almost all of Interstate 72 that passes through Piatt County. We also cover the University of Illinois' 1,500 acre Allerton Park & Retreat Center, which has been named one of the 7 Wonders of Illinois by the Illinois Bureau of Tourism. This is performed by our dedicated staff of volunteer firefighters working out of 2 stations (Station 1 - White Heath; Station 2 - Monticello) under the direction of Chief Matthew Oliger. We currently have a fleet of 12 fire apparatus ranging from 1990 to 2020 (3 Engines, 3 Tenders, 2 Brush Trucks, 2 Squads and 2 Rescues), a side-by-side utility and a thermal capable drone. Chief: Matthew Oliger
Captain: Cameron Bettinger
Lieutenant: Nathan Caudill
Lieutenant: Jared Lee

🐾🔥 National Pet Fire Safety Day

Our pets are family, and they depend on us to help keep them safe from fire.

Here are a few simple ways to protect your furry friends:
🐶 Keep pets away from stovetops, grills, candles, and fireplaces.
🔋 Avoid leaving pets unattended around open flames or lit candles.
🚪 Place a pet rescue alert sticker on a front window to let firefighters know how many pets are inside.
🔗 Keep leashes or carriers near the main entrance to make a quick evacuation easier.
🚨 Include your pets in your family's home fire escape plan and practice it together.

A few simple steps today can help protect every member of your family—two-legged and four-legged alike.

Please read this post from United Prairie. We can not emphasize it enough to slow down and look before crossing an intersection even if you don’t have a stop or yield sign. Take some time and enjoy the beautiful countryside!

A friendly reminder from all of us at United Prairie.

As the corn continues to grow across Central Illinois, it also becomes harder to see approaching traffic at many rural intersections.

Whether you have a stop sign or not, please slow down, take an extra look, and use a little extra caution before entering an intersection.

We want everyone to make it home safely—to their families, friends, and loved ones.

Have a safe summer, and thank you for helping keep our rural roads safe.
