Tomorrow (Thursday 10/15) at 1:15, join Colin Butler, Hartford School Board Member, for a special presentation and discussion at Bugbee about the Hartford School Board budget.

The legislature passed several pieces of legislation that will impact Hartford schools for years to come. Act 169 reduces the amount of funds a district can budget without penalty. It is forecast currently that this will mean a reduction in Hartford’s budget of almost $5 million next year with additional cuts in subsequent years. This means we’ll have to consider closing one or more schools and terminating upwards of 25% of district staff. Act 170 mandates that all school districts in Vermont join merger study groups to determine if a merger of neighboring districts might save money and produce better results. Hartford will be discussing merger with Windsor and Mountain Views (Woodstock).

No registration required. For more information, please call 802-295-9068 or email [email protected].

The Hartford Board of School Directors is seeking community input into the budget models and approaches that were presented to them at last week's Board meeting. This survey was developed to gather feedback from all of the various stakeholders in the school and district community and beyond.

Your input matters and is so valuable as the board considers the path forward, a path that has been made incredibly challenging by the legislation passed last session (for an understanding of the hurdles that have been placed in front of us, please also see the joint statement that was signed by the HSD Board, HSD Leadership, and HEA Leadership and is posted on the School Board page).

We very much appreciate your feedback and support as we navigate through this challenging situation together.
