K9 LUKE BRINGS HOME THE HARDWARE! 🏆🐕‍🦺

Last week, K9 Luke and Chief Hernandez attended their annual K9 recertification at Jessiffany Canine Services.

We are proud to announce that K9 Luke successfully completed his annual recertification in drug detection and tracking, demonstrating the skills, discipline, and reliability required of a working police K9.

But Luke wasn’t finished there! 💪🐾

During the week, Luke also competed against several other talented K9 teams from across the State of Wisconsin—and came away with some impressive results:

🥇 1st Place – Building Search for a Person
🥇 1st Place – Open Area Detection
🥉 3rd Place – Luggage Detection
🥉 3rd Place – Scramble Detection

These accomplishments are a testament to the countless hours of training, hard work, and dedication that go into maintaining a successful K9 team.

K9 Luke plays an important role in serving the Whitehall community and assisting our fellow law enforcement agencies. Whether he is searching for illegal drugs, tracking, conducting searches, or simply representing our department in the community, Luke is always ready to go to work.

We couldn’t be more proud of K9 Luke and everything he continues to accomplish! Please join us in giving Luke a well-deserved GOOD BOY! 🐕‍🦺💙🏆

Congratulations, K9 Luke! Keep up the outstanding work!

Today, we join our brothers and sisters with the Wisconsin State Patrol in mourning the loss of Trooper Bradley Ritger, who died in the line of duty.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Ritger’s family, friends, fellow troopers, and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

***UPDATE***
Thank you everyone for the quick responses. The subject has been identified!

The Whitehall Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the gentleman pictured below in connection with a recent theft investigation

His alleged target?

Candy, yes candy!

That’s right. Somewhere between satisfying a sweet tooth and heading for the exit, this gentleman apparently forgot one very important step…paying.

While we can appreciate a serious commitment to sweet treats, taking candy without paying is still theft — no matter how tempting the candy aisle may be.

In all seriousness, if you recognize the Sweet Tooth Bandit, please contact the Whitehall Police Department, send us a private message, or reach out to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office. You can remain anonymous!

Chief Eduardo Hernandez successfully completed the Leadership in Police Organizations course, administered by the Wisconsin Department of Justice in partnership with the International Association of Chiefs of Police. This course was two weeks in length and hosted by the Lake Delton Police Department.

LPO uses a behavioral science approach to leading people, groups and organizations. The course is based on material developed for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. - WI DOJ

Congratulations and thank you for your continued commitment to serving the Whitehall Police Department and the Community!

The Whitehall Police Department is proud to invest in the continued training and development of our officers. Opportunities like this not only benefit our staff, but also strengthen our department and the service we provide to our community

🚨🐶 HERE TO STAY🐕🚨

On behalf of the City of Whitehall Police Department, I’m happy to announce that our city council met yesterday evening for their monthly meeting where the final implementation of our K9 program was discussed. Great news - The city council voted in favor of continuing our K9 program full time!

K9 Luke has demonstrated the importance of his role by continuing to be utilized over the part several months by not only our agency but other surrounding agencies which have led to discovery of controlled substances since joining The Whitehall PD. K9 Luke has been able to build alliances with our youth as he continues to put smiles on everyone’s face that he meets at the Whitehall School District as well.

Over the next several weeks/months we will be coming out with fundraising efforts in order to successfully continue to fund our new K9 program! Stay tuned for announcements in the near future and we can’t thank you enough for the positive support this beautiful community has given us
