**How Not to Pass a School Bus: Episode 3**

Well, here we are again. Apparently, the first two episodes weren't enough, and this one is especially bad with a double pass.

In today's episode, we feature more drivers demonstrating their remarkable ability to overlook a giant yellow bus, flashing red lights, and an extended stop sign. Even better, we've apparently upped the ante and are now passing stopped school buses by driving into the opposite lane of traffic. Truly impressive stuff.

We understand. You're busy. You have places to be. And surely those 12 seconds you saved, only to end up almost immediately sitting at the next red light, were worth more than the safety of children getting on a school bus. As a reminder, New Jersey law continues to stubbornly insist that drivers actually stop for stopped school buses.

Anyway, summonses have been issued, complete with mandatory court appearances. Those 12 seconds saved just turned into a much longer appointment.

**Please stop for school buses. We'd really love to cancel this series.**

Today, Chief Rindock and members of the Readington Township Police Department had the pleasure of welcoming Alex Mann for a visit to police headquarters.

Alex, who is on the autism spectrum, has made it his mission to visit as many law enforcement agencies as possible, sharing his perspective on how officers can better understand and interact with individuals on the autism spectrum. We were happy to be his 543rd stop!

During his visit, Alex received a tour of police headquarters, checked out our patrol cars, and learned about our department’s drone program. He was also sworn in as an honorary police officer for the day, presented with his very own uniform, and enjoyed lunch with Chief Rindock.

We enjoyed having Alex visit and sharing a little about what our officers do each day.

We wish Alex all the best as he continues his journey to department #544!

School has been back in session since September 3rd.

In that short time, we’ve already reviewed **10 incidents of drivers passing stopped school buses**.

The giant yellow bus, flashing red lights, extended stop sign, giant swinging arm on the front of the bus, and children nearby apparently still weren’t enough clues for some motorists.

So, here’s the refresher:

**Big yellow bus + red lights flashing + stop arm out = STOP.**

Not “slow down.”
Not “go around carefully.”
Not “I’m late for work.”

Just stop.

The kids will appreciate it.

So will we.
