🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE! 🚨

The Whitehouse Police Department reminds everyone to be cautious of scammers pretending to be government or law enforcement officials.

No City of Whitehouse or Smith County official will call you demanding immediate payment for an overdue court date, fine, warrant, or other legal matter.

⚠️ RED FLAGS INCLUDE:

• Demanding payment over the phone

• Asking for payment through Bitcoin or cryptocurrency

• Requesting gift cards or prepaid cards

• Threatening immediate arrest if you do not pay

• Pressuring you to stay on the phone while making a payment

• Asking for personal or banking information
Scammers may use caller ID spoofing to make it appear that the call is coming from a legitimate government office or law enforcement agency.

Do not rely on caller ID alone.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not send money or provide personal information. Hang up and contact the agency directly using a phone number you know to be legitimate.

Please share this information with family members, friends, and especially anyone who may be vulnerable to these types of scams.

When in doubt, hang up and verify before you pay.
