White Mountain Apache Tribe Dedicated to news and events affecting the White Mountain Apache Tribe & surrounding community. It is now known as the White Mountain Apache Reservation.

White Mountain Apache Tribe is located in the east central region of Arizona, 194 miles northeast of Phoenix. Located on the Apache, Gila and Navajo Counties, the White Mountain Apaches reside on 1.6 million acres at its ancestral homeland on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. On November 9, 1891, by Executive Order the Fort Apache Indian Reservation was established. It originally included the San Carlos Apache Reservation but was separated by an act of Congress in 1897. The White Mountain Apache are the direct descendants of the original tribes that lived in this area. The people were once nomadic, however, they now occupy permanent dwellings and depend on livestock, agriculture, tourism and various tribal enterprises for their livelihood. White Mountain Apaches hold dearly to their traditions--from their strong beliefs, the long free-handing shirt (adopted in 1870), to the Crown Dance and basketry. Traditional girl puberty ceremonies bind clans over the summer, starting in early May.

Apache Nation Athletics Male Student-Athlete of the Week πŸ’™πŸ’›

Congratulations to Alchesay senior Edgar Adams, our Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 21–26!

Edgar wears No. 2 for the Falcons and contributes on both sides of the ball as a starting middle linebacker and running back. He has played football since his freshman year and has continued to grow into an important two-way player for Alchesay.

Through the first four games of the season, Edgar has recorded 31 tackles and 230 rushing yards.

Apache Nation Athletics reached out to Falcons Head Coach Brent Lupe for his thoughts on this week’s selection.

Coach Lupe shared that Edgar has shown great leadership all season and that the hard work he put in over the summer is definitely showing in his game.

For Edgar’s family, however, his accomplishments go beyond football.

His mom shared that they are especially proud of the way Edgar prioritizes being a student before an athlete. He continues to maintain good grades while balancing the responsibilities of school and football, showing maturity and dedication both in the classroom and on the field.

His family also shared the importance of Edgar always putting God first.

Congratulations, Edgar! Keep working hard, leading by example, and representing Alchesay High School and the White Mountain Apache community with pride. πŸˆπŸ†

A special thank you to WME Theatres for continuing to support the Apache Nation Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week program and helping us recognize our local youth. Edgar will receive movie passes courtesy of WME Theatres. 🎬🍿 WME Theatres
