FELONY ARREST

Just after midnight on August 23, 2026, an Officer from the Whitewright Police Department initiated a traffic stop on US Hwy 69 at Sears Rd for a Texas Transportation Code violation.

As the officer was approaching the vehicle to contact the operator, the vehicle sped away from the traffic stop, initiating a vehicle pursuit. While in pursuit of the vehicle, the officer observed the vehicle blackout on several occasions and nearly lose control of the vehicle amongst other travelers on the highway.

The suspect vehicle continued traveling north on US 69 before turning westbound onto SH-56 in Bells, TX. With the assistance of the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, a patrol deputy was able to perform a successful Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver bringing this dangerous pursuit to an end near SH-56 and FM 1417.

Officers and Deputies contacted the operator and occupants and learned the car was occupied by four juveniles. The juvenile operator of the vehicle was taken into custody for multiple felony offenses and transported to a nearby juvenile detention facility.

We are extremely thankful no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

No other information will be released as the investigation remains ongoing and the juvenile nature of this incident. All suspect(s) are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

I would like to thank the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Bells Police Department, and the Texas Highway Patrol for their assistance. This is another great example of teamwork bringing a dangerous situation to a safe end.

I would also like to thank our community for their continued support of the police department as we work together to ensure safety within our community and on the highways we and our loved ones travel on.
