Our fifth graders are putting the A in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math)! Using LEGO bricks, students recreated famous works of art, including pieces by Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, Wassily Kandinsky, Gilbert Stuart and Keith Haring.

This creative challenge brought art history and engineering together as students explored color, shapes, patterns and design while figuring out how to transform famous masterpieces into LEGO creations.

WLES second grader Ewan discovered a love for the InvestiGators book series thanks to a little help from our wonderful paraprofessional, Ms. McGee!

The two have been reading the series together, and Ewan's excitement has been contagious! Remembering a past author visit to WLPS, Ms. McGee reached out to InvestiGators author and illustrator to share Ewan's enthusiasm.

And guess what? He sent Ewan his very own autographed book! A big thank-you to Mrs. McGee for going above and beyond and to John Patrick Green for making one young reader's day extra special.

The Class of 2030 visited the University of Michigan campus to get an early look at college life and begin thinking about their future. With the mindset of "Begin with the end in mind," students explored notable spots like the Law Quad, the Diag, the Student Union, and even the Cube, where many gave it a spin for a little good luck.

Ms. Podgorski's first graders are putting their phonics skills to work with a colorful, hands-on activity exploring vowel sounds and word building. Learning to read takes practice, and sometimes the best way to make those skills stick is to get up, move around and make learning fun!

October is Michigan College Month, and our WLHS seniors are hitting the road toward their futures! Each senior has a personalized vehicle on this incredible hallway display. As they complete three important steps toward life after graduation, they'll earn:
🧳 A suitcase for applying to college
πŸ”‘ Keys for completing the FAFSA
β›½ A tank of gas for applying for a scholarship

When they complete all three, they earn their "Road Trip Ready" badge. A big shoutout to Academic Counselor Kathy DeKeyser for making college and career planning an engaging journey for our students.

No matter where the road leads, we're cheering our Trojans on every mile of the way!
