Heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and hazardous road conditions are all possible during El Niño weather patterns. Is your household prepared? 🌧️
What is El Niño, and why should Whittier residents prepare? 🌧️
El Niño is a climate pattern caused by warmer-than-normal ocean temperatures in the Pacific Ocean. It can influence weather patterns and increase the likelihood of heavy rainfall in Southern California.
The City of Whittier is preparing for potential severe weather in the coming months, and we encourage residents to do the same.
Now is a good time to:
☑️ Build an emergency kit with at least 10 days of supplies.
☑️ Make an emergency plan for your household.
☑️ Check your roof, gutters, and drains for needed maintenance.
☑️ Prepare your vehicle for wet weather.
Download the free Whittier 365 app and enable notifications to receive City updates. You can also use the app to report blocked drains and other weather-related issues.
